Unpolarised light:
A light in which the vibrations of the electric vectors are in all possible directions, which are perpendicular to the directions of propagation is called as unpolarised light. Symbolic representation of unpolarised light is as shown in figure
This representation shows a component of light vector (↨) in plane of paper and also other component of light vector (·) perpendicular to plane of paper.
Note: Superposition of plane polarised light, one with vibration in the plane of paper and other with vibration perpendicular to the plane of paper gives an unpolarised light.
