What is Physics?

Physics 12th std HSC Maharashtra Board

Introduction & Meaning –

Physics “knowledge of nature”, is the natural science that involves the study of matter and its motion through space and time, along with related concepts such as energy and force.

The branch of science concerned with the nature and properties of matter and energy. The subject matter of physics includes mechanics, heat, light and other radiation, sound, electricity, magnetism, and the structure of atoms.

One of the most fundamental scientific disciplines. Over the millennial, physics was a part of natural philosophy along with chemistry, biology, and certain branches of mathematics. Physics intersects with many interdisciplinary areas of research, such as biophysics and quantum chemistry, and the boundaries of physics are not rigidly defined. New ideas in physics often explain the fundamental mechanisms of other sciences.

Many physicists work in ‘pure’ research, trying to find answers to these types of question. The answers they come up with often lead to unexpected technological applications. Development of sustainable forms of energy production.

  • Developing computer games
  • Design and manufacture of sports equipment
  • Understanding and predicting earthquakes.

Physics also makes significant contributions through advances in new technologies that arise from theoretical breakthroughs. Physics doesn’t just deal with theoretical concepts. It’s applied in every sphere of human activity,

Treating cancer, through radiotherapy, and diagnosing illness through various types of imaging, all based on physics.
