B.A.M.S. Bachelor of Ayurveda As a Career Course after 12th/HSC Board

India have rich medicine knowledge from ancient period, well know as Ayurveda, B.A.M.S.  Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (B.A.M.S.) is graduate degree awarded after the study of 5  1/2 years duration, including 1-year internship.

In the state of Maharashtra B.A.M.S graduates do have permission to practice modern/allopathic medicine . According to the privileges in the Drugs & Cosmetics Act 1940, Rules 1945.  States have right to allow BAMS doctors to use modern medicine, in the practice.

There are four key concepts in Ayurveda. These concepts are Panch Mahabhutas, Tridoshas, Sapt Dhatus and Malas. These altogether guide the preventive, promotive and curative aspects of the practice of Ayurveda.

Job and Career options for B.A.M.S:

there are openings in government hospitals, charitable medical centers, private clinics, hospitals and dispensaries. In government hospitals, Ayurvedic practitioners are on par with allopaths. Teaching and research at research institutions is another options open to qualified Ayurvedic doctors.

Salary Scale  for B.A.M.S:

Those who have completed B.A.M.S, can get an initial remuneration of Rs.12000 – 18000 per month in the public sector. Ayurveda college teachers can earn more than Rs.10000 per month. Money depends on the practitioner’s skills, reputation and locality of practice. Doctors who have just started their careers or are yet to establish themselves can earn approximately Rs 400 per day.
Once you have established your own reputation, your earnings per day can go up to Rs 3,000 a day. Established Ayurvedic doctors can charge a whopping Rs 500 per person for every visit.
